Life & Work with Camaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camaro.

Hi Camaro, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I initially fell in love with cooking around 12 years old. I use to watch my grandmother cook Sunday meals for the family. After high school, I wanted to enroll in culinary school but I decided to take another road and get a full-time job. Fast forward to the last few years, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow my dreams. I started to cook for my close friends and family. They’d stress to me that I should take cooking more serious. Initially, I was just too scared to take that leap of faith and bet on myself.

One day, I decided “what the heck”, I started small with red velvet and banana pudding cupcakes at my friend Yani B’s boutique on the weekends which eventually turned into pasta bowls and desserts. I got my first “booking” for my cousin’s bridal party announcement. The reviews were so great I decided to go full force and take my craft more serious. Since then, I have cooked for Toya Wright, Alexis Sky, Yummy, Kendra’s Hair Boutique, Terrence Ross, Ayo the producer & others

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Balancing a full-time, demanding job and running a business which requires me to be hands-on is just as stressful as it sounds. The road has not always been smooth, but the experiences gained over the last few years have made it worth it!

My business has grown more than I could have ever imagined, eventually, I would love to pursue my passion full time and take on more clients.

A personal struggle of mine is just believing in myself and putting myself out there. I’ve always been my biggest critic when it comes to providing great service and only putting out what I would deemed as quality work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the moment, I currently offer a private dining experience for customers. They can either choose from a preset menu option that is located on my website, or they could make specific request for their event. My specialty is southern cuisine; that good ole down south southern cooking that your grandmother use to make.

I am most proud of the growth that I’ve had over the last few years and my attention to detail with every booking. I never want to serve anything that I am not happy with both visually and taste-wise. It is a dream of mine to eventually own a restaurant and If I keep going in this direction, I can see that happening for me, sooner than later. I believe what sets me apart from others is the full experience that I provide. As a customer, you will have amazing food & high-quality presentation.
