Life & Work with Chris Gonzalez of Mills50

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Gonzalez

Hi Chris , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A number of years ago a friend reached out looking for live music on a Tuesday night….was looking for a bar/restaurant for a date night…I had no clue where to direct him as I never went out on Tuesday’s. He asked why there wasn’t a website/social media/app dedicated to finding local music….the next day I started searching for domains and available Social Media pages and Orlando Music Live was born! I did as much as I could the first year or two, but it wasn’t until Covid that I really started to grow Orlando Music Live. I knew there was a big need to promote local music and I finally had some time to dedicate, and it really grew from there. My focus will always be local music, but we also work with bigger venues and touring acts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning it was a struggle trying to find out who was playing where. I was surprised how many places that offered live music didn’t really promote it. I really worked on forming relationships with a lot of the local musicians and talent bookers to build our calendar to where it is today. Eventually the smaller venues also jumped on board and began to send monthly schedules for us to help promote.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Orlando Music Live is purely a passion project. I work in Medical Device sales, currently selling an amazing Drug-Free, Wearable device that treats and prevents Migraine. I travel a lot, which makes keeping up with Orlando Music Live more difficult, but I love the Orlando Music Community so I will continue to do what I can to help!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Relationships are everything. There are so many amazing people involved in the Music Community here in Central Florida, and it’s been such a pleasure to get to know such wonderful people.
