Today we’d like to introduce you to Corie Motsinger.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Hi, I’m Corie! A Mom, Wife, and Licensed Esthetician. If you know me, then you know my Husband’s name is also Korey. And if not, then that’s something you might find funny! Outside of being a mom to 2 very busy toddlers who are the center of my world, I am lucky enough to have a career where I truly enjoy every minute. I specialize in Customized Facials, Body Treatments, and Skin Care Regimens. Having a job in the beauty industry has been extremely rewarding; not only do I get to make people feel beautiful, but I also get to help them feel more confident. From young women dealing with acne to women with mature skin dealing with fine lines, my career allows me to help people of many different backgrounds feel and look their best. Several seasons in my career have been truly life-changing not only for me but for my beautiful clients.
So, how did I get here? My interest in skincare and all things beauty began at a young age. I grew up in a single Mother household, which meant my Mom was (and still is) my best friend. My Mom took pride in her appearance and had every beauty product you could think of. She often asked if we were sisters because of how young she looked; her self-care habits played a big part. She would take me to do all the things girl Moms do – nail salons, tanning on the beach, trips to the Clinique beauty counter, you name it. It was always our thing to do all the “girly self-care things” growing up. So, she greatly influenced who I became. She is also my #1 supporter and a regular client. Thanks, Mom! Before Esthetics, I worked alongside Doctors, Surgeons, and Physical Therapists. In each of these endeavors, I learned valuable lessons that I’ve been able to apply in my career in aesthetics. Working in the healthcare industry ignited my passion for helping others, especially in ways they may not be able to help themselves. When someone books a facial with me, it’s much more than “just a facial.” It’s also increased confidence, keeping themselves as a priority, gaining a new friend, and, of course, leaving with healthier, glowing skin! It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say the road has been “smooth,” but it has been rewarding having to work for what I have now! Deciding to change career paths at 28 with 2 children, 4 and under, has been challenging. With that being said, I graduated from school with perfect attendance, not missing a single day of the entire program! I also landed the job of my dreams shortly after graduating. It should be noted that before landing a job, I applied to nearly 20 spas and didn’t hear back from any of them, which felt very discouraging, but I stayed the course and kept my faith, and everything ended up working out better than I could’ve imagined.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently specialize in providing Customized Facials, Back Facials, and Body Treatments. Outside the treatment room, I constantly study the newest products and equipment to ensure my clients always receive the best. When you come to Omorfia, the atmosphere is just different. Do you have any advice for those just starting?
My advice to anyone starting would be – don’t let the hard days win! And also, the people you expect to support you the most probably won’t. But that’s okay! You’ll find your people! Stay focused, stay consistent, and always take the opportunity that scares you the most; that is where you will learn the most.
