Life & Work with Cyrus Stinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyrus Stinson.

Hi Cyrus, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been extremely passionate about the amusement industry. Always knowing that Orlando was a goal for me to call home finally. I spent a long time learning about the industry, how different types of attractions work, and how they are built from the ground up. As I got older, I also loved how some major companies created immersion for their guests within their parks. Disney and Universal do this exceptionally well. They have also allowed great communities of people to come together. When I was finally moving out to Orlando, I downloaded TikTok, knowing nothing about it. This could be a great platform to make friends, and I was pleasantly surprised when I started making connections from that avenue. As time in Orlando went on, I started making my content around the amusement parks here and found that I genuinely enjoyed putting out things I was passionate about and making new friendships. Today, I have a great group of friends thanks to the parks and online, and I couldn’t be happier to call Orlando home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the past, It was very challenging to find the balance between being vulnerable and authentic and sharing only a little online. This balance can take some time, and I have finally gotten to a place where I keep things consistent and true to myself but not showing everything going on in my personal life.

Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
I do some work in the theme park industry, and I do some work as an ambassador for Sony Aibo. One of the things I am proud of is that I am known for my kindness to others. I value the people around me and care to keep those connections strong and authentic.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I am very outgoing and comfortable connecting with new people or having a conversation with a stranger. What works for me may not work for others. My advice is to step outside of your comfort zone a bit, talk to that stranger yourself, and take that leap of faith. It is so much easier said than done. Over time, this practice becomes much easier and so much less frightening.
