Life & Work with Dallas Kennedy of Tallahassee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Kennedy.

Hi Dallas, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started singing at 6 years old performing at church school conventions. I played basketball my whole life it was my first real love and so I was focused on that because I knew it would get me to college. Throughout my adolescence, I was playing basketball middle school and high school and around the age of 15, I wrote my first song. I recorded it at a teen center I would go to play basketball at and the rest is history. I played collegiate basketball but I always found a way back to the music. Around 2018 is when I decided to take things seriously. In 2019 I moved back home to Tallahassee from Gainesville and I was able to record and perform and put out music as I pleased. I started building a reputation around the city as this singer/songwriter. I started writing songs for other people as well. In 2020 when the pandemic hit things started to slow down and all of my big plans were put on hold. Late 2020 around October I decided to start up an event platform called TallyTour and that is where I would allow other people to perform and I was hosting the shows and it really gave a lot of people hope during that time. I am still managing that platform today and it is growing bigger and better. I am still singing and writing and recording my own music as well.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not always been smooth but I’m still on the road. It’s been great. The journey, the highs the lows everything has taught me something. I did have the loss of my fiancé high school sweetheart in 2017 while I was playing basketball and recording music. He passed due to a long battle with Osteosarcoma cancer. That was my biggest emotional setback it was hard but I had to push through everything as I was still in school and on the team. He taught me a lot that experience taught me a lot.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an R&B singer. I specialize in writing different types of music from rap, hip/hop, to R&B to Pop music. I am most proud of creating the name for myself that I now have in my city. People know me as Tally Tour and as a singer and songwriter in my community. I have built a great reputation and people come to me regarding music all the time. What sets me apart from others is my quality and dedication and service. I’ve always had a thing to where I want to help people and create great vibrations in which others can be immersed in I love helping others get to where they want to go. My quality of music the type of music I make is very relatable and very professional. I’m also very hard working and will make sure everything is going to turn out right.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have taken major risks. One just doing what I love I think of it as a risk because I am investing in myself constantly whether it be time, money, or other resources. I took a risk starting an event platform in the midst of a pandemic and it thrived and people loved it! I am a huge risk taker because we are here to expand and stand in our purpose and follow our life mission not to be complacent and scared. If you feel like there’s something you want to do and your soul is urging you and it’s out of love. Do it.
