Life & Work with Deborah Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Young

Hi Deborah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
During the 2020 pandemic, I decided to start blogging again. I had blogged in the past, but in 2020, I really began to pick it up and blog more consistently. During this time, I was able to connect with the blogging community via social media, such as Twitter (now known as X), Facebook blogging groups, and Instagram. From there, I was able to learn blogging tips, connect with others, and really grow as a blogger.

Throughout these four years, I have grown and learned so much from my blogging journey. One main thing that stands out to me is that I started off just as a beauty blogger but transitioned to more of a lifestyle blogger, writing about many different topics. I love it; I love being a blogger.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been easy, so I just want to first say that I love being a blogger and I really enjoy doing it. There are so many things I have enjoyed about blogging, but there have also been a lot of struggles. First and foremost, I learned in the blogging community that you can’t trust everyone. There are a lot of scammers trying to comment and causing your score to go down. I had some bloggers who were basically competing against each other, sometimes stealing ideas or comparing. There was even some drama of people calling each other out on social media.

More recently, I learned about the behind-the-scenes aspects of conventions. There are different things involved, like sponsorships, doing promotions, and being an outlet. Learning how to be more professional is part of the journey. I am trying to enjoy it and see it all as a learning experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Since I was younger, I always wanted to be a writer. Writing, even as a hobby, is incredibly fulfilling, and I hope one day it will become a full-time career. I’m so thankful for the opportunity. I am known for my quotes, often sharing my “thoughts of the day” or “quotes of the day.” These reflect different things I’ve experienced, lessons I’ve learned, and situations I’ve gone through. It’s a way for me to express myself. I call them “headphone thoughts” because they are the thoughts that go through my mind, the things I process, and how I view the world.

I’ve had some of my followers submit their own quotes of the day, which I’ve posted as collaborations with bloggers and other writers. Being part of the blogging community is incredibly enjoyable, and I love getting to be a writer, being creative, and creating things through writing.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am definitely open to collaborating and working with people. To get in contact with me, please email me at [email protected]. Include your details and the ways you would like to collaborate. I am very open to it.

However, I have a few requests: I don’t want to discuss politics, use adult language, or engage in conversations of a sexual nature. These are just some topics I prefer to avoid on my platform.

When we collaborate, I like to let people know these preferences ahead of time, as I am a small creator.
