Life & Work with Deidre & Adarius Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre & Adarius Knight.

Deidre & Adarius Knight

Hi Deidre & Adarius, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We moved here from Fort Walton Beach, Florida in late 2019 to be closer to the theme parks and for more steady work as we both work in hospitality and the working season is short on the panhandle. We had just gotten into new jobs and all was well until March 2020. We started a YouTube channel and filming shortly before the shutdown as sort of a modern-age scrapbook so we could remember our time in Orlando.

This is where we’ve both dreamed about living since we were kids and we were so happy to finally have achieved that goal together. The pandemic was rough. No theme parks were open, our jobs had furloughed us, and it was a dark time for everyone. When Orlando started to slowly reopen, we started filming again and got some positive responses from our friends and family out of state who couldn’t visit, so, we filmed for them and ourselves. Pretty soon, we had strangers commenting on our videos, and on our Facebook page, about how good it was to hang out with us while they couldn’t be in the parks.

Then we had requests for how-to videos, and we found we could give our experience to others to help them have a great vacation. Many of our online friends have become real-life friends, and we’re so happy to be on this journey together. We’ve found a love for enjoying the little things like hidden Mickey’s and easter eggs in queue lines at Universal, but also the big things like cruising.

We took our first cruise out of Port Canaveral and fell in love with the cruise life. On our bucket list is Disneyland Paris and Universal Studios Japan along with experiencing one of the biggest cruise ships in the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning cameras and editing software has been a learning curve. We’ve had many different issues with editing software, cameras, and storage.

But we’ve come through with gained knowledge and experience and love what we do. Covid also put a damper on Deidre’s health. She’s had covid 4 times and it has exasperated her multiple immune disorders. We push through, but we see a disability pass in our future for the theme parks.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re known for giving tips and tricks in YouTube videos and reels while having fun at Orlando themes parks-mostly Universal and Disney. We like to do in-park videos while we give you tips and tricks on how to stay cool, save money, or even where to go if you have a panic attack. We are theme park employees with Adarius working at City Walk in Universal Orlando and Deidre working at Disney Springs.

We grew up working in hospitality and customer service, so we know what people are looking for when they vacation and since we have first-hand experience in the theme parks as employees, we can give the best advice and have some insider information. We like to give a lot of details and information while keeping it personal and not so formal.

We’re like your best friends who know a lot and share with you whatever you want to know. We also run a Gideon’s Bakehouse fan page on Facebook and were the first people to get married inside Gideons’ Bakehouse in Disney Springs this past February. We’re big fans of Steve (the owner) and all his creations.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being a little goofy and down to earth are our main characteristics. We have a plan going into every video, but ends up being mostly spontaneous… we have a lot of “squirrel” moments, but it just makes the trek more fun!
