Life & Work with Diana Cruz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Cruz.

Hi Diana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Basically, I have been decorating for parties and events my entire life. I have a passion for event decorating, arts and crafts but never really believed in myself. Over 30 years decorating weddings, birthdays and office events for the joy and the love of it. People continued to always ask me why I did not have my own business. I would get others who would just say I was in the wrong field. As the comments increased, I just felt a nitch in my heart to finally go for my own business.

When Covid hit it really gave me the time I needed to try a new venue. Last year in January, I finally decided to launch my own business and see where it would take me. Yesterday February 28th, 2022, I officially celebrated my first year anniversary of Nana’s One Dream, LLC and I am so blessed to be here today to share it with you. It has been a slow but growing process but one that I would sacrifice to make it to the top. I hope to reach other areas and customers and continue making their dreams come true. My office is based off of my 2nd floor home and the comfort of being home with my family while doing what I love is a blessing as a whole.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth at all but I did not expect a smooth road ahead. I launched myself into something I am not fully familiar with and have YouTubed and reached out to several other small businesses to help me along the way. My main struggle is dealing with the tax paperwork and getting a website up and launched. I pretty much have done it all n my own. It has been a tremendous learning experience in many ways.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a creative event/party planner, organizer, designer and coordinator. I can go from creating your dream into reality just by showing me a picture of your theme to helping any client reach their theme goal. I specialize in decorating for any event, whether in a home, park or even a beach theme, I will adapt and arrange to make it all happen. I specialize in getting my clients all that they need for their events from decorating, catering, music, entertainers and much more. I am proud of the fact that I took this huge step to do build my business from the ground up.

I believe what sets me apart from most is that I not only focus on parties and events but I also am crafty and design many arts and crafts as well. I work with permanent and heat transfer vinyls using them on T-shirts, mugs, frames and so much more.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Launching a new small business is already a major risk because we never know where we’re really going to be at the end. I have risked my time, my job and my family to launch my business. In the sense that so much time has to go into the business, my major focus on a regular basis is how many orders I have, what my calendar looks like and when to separate and have time for family and fun.
