Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Johnson.
Hi Dominique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started at 19. A single mother walked into the building of a non for profit developer to interview for a receptionist position. I had no knowledge of real estate nor did I want to know. Little did I know that the 19-year-old unexperienced girl would blossom into the woman I am today. I worked for that company for 15 years. I was groomed by my mentor the late Jacquelyn Smith who at the time was the Director of Housing.
She always instilled in me that I was bigger than the idea in my head. Not long after she retired, I was given the opportunity to walk in the position I was groomed for, my biggest achievement to come as Director of Housing. I began to want greater after iI realized how much I loved the idea of helping families achieve homeownership. I loved my job but missed my personal connection to the families I interacted with daily.
I studied for my real estate license and became a sales associate in 2017, not really knowing which way I would go I continued to work and practice real estate in my spare time.
In June of 2020, I decided I had been called to do more, I had become comfortable in my position but I knew it was not my final destination in life. I resigned and went into real estate full-time. Prior to my transition I also became a Loan Signing Agent after having my notary for years and in 2020 I created my company Integrity Mobile Notary & Consulting.
From a young confused mother to a successful business owner of 2 businesses I can really say I’ve been blessed not only with great opportunities but great mentors along the way.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has been a rocky road transitioning from a structured job to now being your own boss.
Real estate started out very slow for me. Originally, I believed that it would be easy just due to the fact that communities knew me, but they knew as someone else, not really trusting me as a Realtor. I had to learn what meant to really brand yourself. With both of my businesses, I struggled to find my niche.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Realtor with Preferred Real Estate Brokers of Clermont, FL.
I specialize in new New Construction Homes, if you’re looking for a new home I’ll find it. I can build a home tear it down and build it again lol. I also specialize in land acquisition, I partner with quite a few developers to locate land and build quality homes. I am proud of the connections and partnerships that I’ve been blessed to make over the years.
Most recently through the growth of my business Integrity Mobile Notary, I’m also known to provide notary services and loan closing signing services for many agencies in the Lake and Marion County areas. This idea really started off as a little side hustle but I never imagined that it would lead me to so many other opportunities to partner with other companies and provide education about the business to others.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be going to my aunt’s house on the weekends and summers.
My cousin and I would go on these explorations not knowing what we would run into. We would get these little microwave burgers from the store just to finish it on the walk home. I remember one summer we came up with the idea to become a singing duo and my uncle coached us but it was short-lived we broke up and never made it to stardom.
Life was so simple back then.
