Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Green
Hi Edward , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
“It’s your fav work from home Pisces cousin, EJ!” I’m originally from Delray Beach, FL, and a proud graduate of the University of Florida. I began creating content back in 2020 when the pandemic first started. I struggled in a lot during that time. I was anxious and fearful about the security of the job market as a graduating student. I didn’t properly close out my senior year and lacked closure to a part of my life that was crucial to who I am today. After working through all these doubts and fears, I landed my first “big boy” job 6 months after graduating. The role was a Technology Sales Consultant through a referral. I’ve since been in corporate for over 4 years and I’ve witnessed the highs and very lows. While working in corporate, I begin to dip my toe in the creator space but nothing specific and niche. After months of posting I noticed that my growth was not as fast as my creator colleagues’ growth. That’s when a light bulb went off in my head. I decided to center my content around something I already do…Work From Home!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The comparison is real. Since working in corporate and creating content, there has been an increasing sense of comparison daily. You don’t want to get left behind but you also understand that everyone has a season. I call it, “the waiting period.” This does not mean that the grind stops. But the fruits of your labor, may harvest at a later time.
In addition to being in this space, the intersections of being black, gay, and plus-size have been somewhat challenging. I’ve witnessed how my societally attractive peers have benefitted positively from the discrepancies of how society treats less conventionally attractive people. For example: they post less content and still receive an astronomical amount more engagement than I do as a consistent creator. We can also include examples such as brands lowballing me while offering market price to peers who meet the status quo such as a white person or a socially attractive person regardless of the value I bring to my audience. Nonetheless, in this confusing world, I show up everyday and continue to water my grass so I get to lay on it in the sun one day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m currently still a Technology Sales Consultant. I specialize in identity security and human capital management sales while creating entertaining and valuable content to improve your work-from-home process.
I’m most proud of my innovation skills. I believe it’s important to have a solutions-oriented mindset. Though it’s okay to vent from time to time, it’s important to keep it from becoming your detriment. With my solutions-focused mind frame, I’ve been able to quickly pivot when something stops working and develop new strategies. As a content creator, you need to be adaptable to the ever-changing landscape of the algorithm to survive.
My unique take on the corporate world from a gay black perspective is interesting! While working from home full-time. I’m a stereotypical Pisces and that’s what sets me apart. I’m an all-encompassing audience blender. My core brand identity includes me being an entertaining work from home fellow, an emotional Pisces, and having followers as my distant cousins.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
They may not know that I have a candle brand called Esteemed Luxury (which can be found on my Instagram bio) and that I was a thespian growing up. I’ve acted in numerous theatre productions in my youth, a few to name, Little Shop of Horrors and The Nutcracker. I even went on to audition for different Broadway’s but my family didn’t have the proper resources at that time to support me so I went on to focus on other endeavors. Shout out to my mother, Kristle Mounds, for being an amazing parent and raising four boys as a single mother. This has been one heck of a ride. I’m excited to see how far this goes!
