Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Perry Tollman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my business in 1996 after dabbling in the Tree business on the weekends for about 8 to 10 years as a good side job for extra money to help my wife and I raise our kids, this is our 30th year,We are a family owned business with my wife handling most of our calls,scheduling and administrative work and our son Austin who is also a certified arborist, Tree risk assessment qualified, and safety certified, we started with a small pick up truck and flat trailer, we went through a lot of challenges building up our equipment to what it is today , we have about 10 employees ,2 grapple trucks , 2 high reach lifts,3 skid loaders,2 stump grinders and lots of other toys needed to be efficient in the business that we are in.
We have residential and commercial clients that have been with us for more than 25-30 years ,we continue to build on the base that we have created, we are so blessed to have the opportunity to give great advise and education in the world of arboriculture.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Education,building an amazing crew, and large investment purchases made for a lot of difficult challenges in the first 5 to 10 years of this business, many many struggles in the slow times of the years, learning lessons like you can’t eat nice , and life is like a shit sandwich, the more bread you have the better it tastes! All kidding aside side its been the toughest thing I’ve ever done and would not change a thing

I am a certified arborist with Tree risk assessment qualifications and I’m a business owner of 30 years.
We are best known for assessing Trees for residential and commercial properties. We consult based on tree conditions, species, targets, and tree locations , we saved dead trees if they’re in the right location something we are very proud of
I enjoy explaining how trees work and how they add value to property’s
I believe what sets us apart from other businesses is the fact that we give our honest opinion whether we are doing work or selling ourselves out of doing any work at all it’s very satisfying, giving our honest opinion to our customers.
I always tell people less is more,only do what you have to, and if there is no target there is no problem. A lot of different circumstances in the business and a lot of wonderful people that we get to meet.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
To start a business and work with my wife and son are beyond my wildest dreams, my son wants to pass it down to his son , what more could I ask for, none of which where ever in my plans when I started,I took a lot of risks in my career and they all paid off for more than I could’ve ever expected
