Life & Work with Emilee Moore of Central, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Moore

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I picked up a camera for the very first time when I was 14 years old. I photographed family and friends and then started posting little ads in a local moms Facebook group.

It was there that I booked my first photo session for $25! At 14 years old I think I made a little over $600 in a year photographing families in my small town.

Then the next year came the big leagues. A wedding inquiry with a budget of $600! Of course I agreed to it and shot my very first wedding at 15 years old.

I quickly realized that photography was sustainable, and that I could build a business out of it. By the time I was 19 years old I had made over $100,000 in my photography career. I had traveled to 6 states photographing couples.

Now, I’ve scaled back to serving a select number of couples each year as I grow my family. But I can confidently say that at 21 years old, my photography journey has brought me wild success.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has by no means been an easy journey. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have those moments where I wanted to throw in the towel.

I’ve shot just over 200 weddings now and while most of my couples are a DREAM to work with, there have been 2 couples in the past 7 years that really had me reconsidering my career choice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding destination photographer serving couples worldwide! I believe I have a unique look to my work. It’s not bright and airy, it’s not dark and moody, it’s not totally true to color, it’s just mine? And I love it.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I started second shooting for a local photographer in my small town at 15 years old and she gave me the courage to shoot weddings on my own.
