Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Yeoh.
Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey all started back in 2021 when I got my eyebrows done. For years, I struggled with filling my eyebrows with makeup. I never knew what shape or style would look best on me, so every day, I drew in different shapes that were not flattering. After repeated sessions of eyebrow tinting that were not yielding long-lasting results, I discovered ombre powder brows, which is a form of permanent makeup that creates effortless, smudge-proof, waterproof, and beautiful eyebrows that you won’t have to paint on every single morning. The best part is that they can last up to 2 to 3 years! This modern technique is achieved with a digital tattoo machine implanting pixelated layers of pigment into the skin. This technique can be completely customized based on the client’s desired look. What you want is what you’ll get, whether looking for a more natural or a bolder eyebrow. My artistry leans towards more of a natural style, and most clients who book with me will request this look. Getting this service done myself has completely changed my life. After graduating college during the Covid shutdown, I was utterly lost in what I wanted to do and struggled to find my purpose. I decided to try something new. Fascinated with this beauty service after reaping its benefits, I took my first-ever Microblading course. I was skeptical and afraid initially as this was opposite to what I had pursued in college. Having a degree in psychology, doing brows is something I never imagined I would do.
I was hooked after countless hours, days, and months of practice! I had found my hidden talent and passion! Fast forward two years later, I have now taken seven courses all over the United States in various cities; I have invested in my education for business and marketing. I now offer ombre powder brows, nano combo brows, tiny tattoos, and ombre powder brow training for aspiring artists. Often, many people only see the highlights and successes. Still, the true reality of my journey, from starting as a complete beginner in this field to working for a spa to working as a solo entrepreneur, has been difficult but rewarding. So many obstacles have given me reasons to quit and give up my passion, but I thank my family, friends, and dear clients for believing in me and encouraging me to continue pursuing this art as a career. I want to inspire anyone out there who is afraid to take that leap of faith, afraid to fail, or afraid to disappoint your loved ones that you should always strive to do what you love and do it with love every single day. Nothing is more beautiful than embracing your talents and helping change lives through each connection you make. I often get asked what my favorite part about being a brow artist is, and the answer is the wonderful connections I make with each individual who steps into my studio. There is so much to learn from the people that you meet. It is more than just eyebrows; it’s the stories I hear that humble and educate me and have contributed to my growth as a woman and the woman I want to become.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges:
-Financial
-Social media account was hacked
-Finding balance and the right time to transition my side hustle into my main
-I was treated less than my worth at a medical spa.
Thanks for sharing that. So, tell us more about your work next.
The goal at Em Brow Artistry is to enhance your natural beauty while elevating your self-confidence. My artistry focuses on creating the most natural looking eyebrows that help you save time in the morning. The goal is to wake up and go! A lot of my clients have mentioned that one of the best benefits after receiving Ombre powder brows treatment is their elevated sense of self-esteem. They’re able to walk out of the house with no makeup and feel their absolute best in their own skin.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
COVID has taught me to be scared, but do it anyway! Life is short, and nothing is guaranteed. Uncertainty and fear are normal, but use that fear and turn it into your superpower! Do your best in the things you can control, and the rest will play out! Trust in God or the universe, whatever you believe in!
