Life & Work with Erica Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Carter.

Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Erica Carter I’m the youngest of two siblings. Motivated by my older siblings Jacque Carter and Yvette Carter. We grew up in a single parent home. One day I was working for a company, and not to long into me seeing that no one cared about detailed cleaning the way I did. Something had to change. While covid-19 was still at an all-time high, I said one day to myself I can do this; I can be a boss and clean for people. This was not my first idea of starting my own business. I wanted a chicken wing food truck. I started my first job at the age of 15. Dish pit is where I worked for a few years until my age progressed so did my work positions. Ending up a chef, I thought that’s what I wanted for my life, but the stress level was too high. So, I said I can clean, don’t get me wrong, everyone can clean but do they enjoy it is the question. Since April of 2022, I seen a big demand for cleaning, and since then, I don’t look at my company as a job. It’s me helping my community. Every call we get we give 100% nothing less. Me and my spouse Danielle Desisso spent our last dime on getting everything up and running. As of today, we clean for 4 major companies. Assisting them with move-in ready units. We also made a Facebook page showing our work. We are still new. We have big goals and dreams for our company C & D Cleaning Pros.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Major challenges were understanding certain documents. A lot of insurance coverage. Pricing. Moreover, was being nervous stepping outside of our comfort zone to build that cliental.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My company is C & D Cleaning Pros. We specialize in commercial and residential cleaning. We are known for so far is, taking care of the dirty jobs. You call we clean is our slogan. What I’m most proud of, is taking that leap of faith with my spouse to trust one another on running a business together. Secondly being the first person out of my family to start a business. We believe, what sets us apart is our drive to be better, have faith and trust because failing is not an option. Our business is family owned and operated. We listen to the clients and pay attention to details, and we give helpful suggestions for post cleans. We are not satisfied until our client is.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
If I need to know or teach myself things, we just search the internet. Google is my go-to.
