Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik VanLysal.
Hi Erik, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Our family moved from Wisconsin to Florida four years ago. We started a YouTube channel called “Florida With Five” to document our new lives in Florida as a way to stay connected with our family. As we started posting videos we gained interest from others who wanted to make a move themselves.
We noticed that there was a huge lack of information online to really help people who were considering relocating to Florida, so we started making videos about our experience to help them. Through time, our social media channels have evolved and we now make videos about family-friendly places and experiences throughout the state.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our path has not been overly bumpy, but I wouldn’t say that it has been smooth. The biggest challenge that we face is finding the time to be consistent. We have six children and work full-time jobs on top of running our social media channels- so finding time to visit new places, edit the footage, and post it is always put biggest obstacle. Another challenge that we face is keeping up with the needs and wants of our viewers.
As I stated earlier, we used to make content about moving to Florida. Now that we’ve been here for four years, our desire is to experience everything that Florida has to offer and make content about it- so in a sense, we feel like we sometimes are letting our original followers down by slowly transitioning our content away from the “moving to Florida” space.

On top of being a content creator and working a full-time job, I also hold a Florida Real Estate License. This has been a great asset in assisting our viewers interested in moving to Florida in actually finding their Florida dream home.

We are a very unique family.
We have six kids, a large dog, and a desire to be adventurous and live our lives to the fullest. We love showing others that just because you have a large family it shouldn’t hold you back from trying new experiences, taking adventures, and living outside of your comfort zone.
