Life & Work with Gregory Brunot

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Brunot.

Hi Gregory, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was raised in the local church. I would say I was basically born in the church. The musical environment isn’t foreign to me nor uncommon. However, stepping out as an artist is one of the scariest things I have done. In the local church let’s be honest, people often tell you what you want to hear about your musical abilities. They’ll say things like “wow you sound amazing” or “just keep on singing and playing for the Lord” although you could really sound terrible. As an artist, it gets real. In fact, people are the exact opposite. They look for ways to tear your artistry apart and look for gaps of weakness. Just hold up a min. I know this sounds harsh Haha but it’s not as bad because the people who are talking like this you’ve prob never met and are online through social media?? So then why does artists let it affect them so much? I think it’s because music is vulnerable. If someone says they don’t like your music it feels like they said you’re the worst person ever…. but really, they’re only talking about the craft not the person behind it. Being an artist requires mental toughness just as much as believing in your craft. So, the real reason for how I made it to where I am? Jesus. Because without Him I lack the mental toughness and the things that will help me sustain a good heart that keeps the ‘main thing the main thing’. My mission is to reach the unchurched/lost and people who have experienced church hurt. When people hear my songs, I want to create a space for them to encounter the Lord wherever they are. I pray that I have the opportunity to let as many people have that encounter.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Worship Pastor, Artist, Producer, and Songwriter. I am proud of the sound I am trying to create for my music. Musically I tend to lean more towards CCM but I add my soul vocally and that kind of mixed those two pots

How do you define success?
Doing what God called you to do while being who He’s called you to be.
