Life & Work with Hector Mestre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector Mestre.

Hi Hector, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Puerto Rico, on February 22, 1983. Legally blind, the youngest of 3. I have loved music from a very young age. I had my first drum set when I was 4 years old. But it wasn’t until I became a teenager that I really started looking into Recording Engineering.

Right after high school, I started purchasing recording equipment. It was really hard to find a school that would take or give classes to a blind student.

Nonetheless, I started learning until my first opportunity to work with artists came in 2005.

I graduated with a BS from Recording Connection.

I have the honor to work with some of the best in our industry like Tito Nieves, Domingo Quiñones, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and many more.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I call it a constant learning road. I struggled to find a school that would take a blind student to teach everything about recording.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Recording Studio Engineer I specialize in Mixing and Mastering. I am a producer, arranger, and musician.
