Life & Work with Icelande Benton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Icelande Benton.

Hi Icelande, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After some years of going through some mental abuse, I decided at the age of 20 to move out of my mom’s house and start a life of my own. I had been working at pizza hut for some months before the summer of 2021, then after that, I worked at Aquatica and saved up enough money to get my first apartment. My grandpa helped me buy my first car, and I got my official license all within the same month I was about to move. I moved with my best friends and my (boyfriend who had been living with me at this time) and we were all pretty set on what we wanted.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been the most difficult road, from selling my PlayStation and switching to pay rent, to trying to find ways to make ends meet with a minimum wage job. Not to mention jobs treat you poorly and unfairly. I’ve struggled with depression this year, not as bad as in my teenage years because I’m finally in my own space without so much headache or abuse. Getting a paycheck and spending it all on bills certainly isn’t fun, especially when you watch others around you go out and go on vacations, do fun activities or sometimes even have a nice meal everyone and a while. Sometimes life can feel unfair but in the end, I know if I want to have things I need to work towards my goals that way they can come true.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am just starting out as a model, trying to bring my social media engagement up so. can be recognized by real brands. But I have other passions as well as wanting to be a streamer as I’ve been playing video games since I was the age of 7 years old, and I’m strangely good at it. I’d love to sit down and chat with people while I play and just have fun. I have hopes of traveling the world and seeing so many different places past Orlando.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself completing my goals and finally living the life I want. After all the hard work and bad luck I’ve been dealt with in life, I feel I deserve to really aspire to my dreams.
