Today we’d like to introduce you to Janel Bencosme.
Janel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in 2012-2013, I became an ophthalmic technician for an ophthalmologist. I loved my job and became obsessed with the human eye. I would assist my doctor in all types of procedures, whether it was medical or cosmetic procedures. I always had a thing for beauty and fashion since I was a child. After working for this ophthalmologist for about 5 years, I needed some type of freedom. My son was still a baby at the time & I never had time for him or my husband. In 2017 lash extensions were becoming very popular in my area and I decided to get certified in lash extension. This was my first certification in the beauty industry, and I love everything about it. Here I am 5 years later with my esthetician license and offering multiple services with my own studio.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many obstacles. 1 year into me lashing and building clientele, my husband received a job offer in North Dakota. We moved out of state for 3 years. I left behind all my clients, but I didn’t stop learning. I kept on getting certified & practicing. I came back to NO clients. I had to start basically from 0 again. I questioned whether if I should just get a regular job or work on my business and make it happen. I am so glad I did not give up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician. I offer many services. Eyelash Extensions. Eyebrow Services, Hyaluron Pen, Facials, Eyelash Lift, Teeth Whitening & much more. I specialize in All services that I offer! I am known for eyelash extensions. I am most proud of how far I have come. I am my own competition. I will forever be a student and never stop learning. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t do this for the money; I do it because I love it. My client’s happiness is what matters in the end so I give them my all and I am very honest.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I am always willing to work with others. I love doing giveaways on my social media. I know we are dealing with hard times at the moment & some people cannot offer to get services done. Offering a giveaway gives an opportunity to those that cannot afford a service to practice in the giveaway & have a chance to give a free service.
