Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Brown.
Hi Jeff, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I had been (still am) a law enforcement officer for many years. I have many co-workers injured in the line of duty and watched as they struggled to maintain physical, mental, and financial stability. We began taking them on outdoor adventures, which quickly bloomed into a nonprofit that aids many nations vast with all the issues they face after being wounded or injured. Hometown Heroes Alliance was incorporated in 2014 as a group that responds to the needs of first responder families across the nation in times of need. We also provide many outdoor adventures with groups of our wounded/injured brothers and sisters, which has become very therapeutic for many of them. We aim to ensure they know we will never forget their sacrifice or leave them behind. HHA is very proud to say that we have no paid staff! Other than a few admin fees for the website and things necessary. All of our donations go to those in need. One only needs to attend one of our adventures to see how their life is changed forever!
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Starting a 501c3 is a challenging ride. The need is great, yet the funding sometimes takes time to obtain. Learning how to develop fundraisers and gather the need to help is sometimes overwhelming. Competition between groups can sometimes become very tough, and we have been able to stay focused and not become involved in all that drama. In the beginning, we also ran an offshore fishing business which helped develop a TV show called “Copout Adventures.” I hosted this show for about three years, taking our wounded guests on all-expense paid fishing worldwide. After a couple of years, the economy collapses, along with the sponsors who help pay for that. We now focus on helping first responders in many ways.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been a Law enforcement officer for over 40 years. While doing so, I have run this charity operating since 2014. We are very proud of how many across the country we have been able to help in many different ways. Our organization has been able to help so many with financial, emotional, and physical issues. We do this at a cost-free donation to all those we help. From taking them on adventures to providing a full Christmas for the families, what we focus on.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
We expect help in just about any way we can get it. We are always looking for more sponsors and donors. Others can show their support financially or help provide events and adventures for our clients.
