Life & Work with Jimara Osorio of Orlando, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimara Osorio

Hi Jimara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Puerto Rico and have called Central Florida my home for the past 15 years. My passion for working with children has always been at the heart of what I do, spending weekends teaching and engaging with kids at my church. In 2022, while completing a class assignment that required me to share my faith with someone, I prepared visual aids to tell a story to a brother and sister I was meeting that week. What began as a simple project quickly turned into something much greater—when I showed my finished work to my husband, he remarked, ‘I think you just wrote a book.’ That moment sparked a journey of discovery and determination. I dove into researching the publishing process, realizing this story could impact not just two children, but countless others. Since then, I have authored and published 11 more books in multiple languages, with my stories reaching children in Europe, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. What started as a heartfelt assignment has blossomed into a mission to inspire and uplift kids across the world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, especially because I chose the path of self-publishing. With self-publishing, every aspect of the process falls on your shoulders—from creating the book to making sure people know it exists. If you don’t advertise, your book remains invisible. So, I’ve had to learn, adapt, and put in a lot of effort to ensure my stories reach as many children as possible. It’s been a journey of hard work, heading out to farmers markets and events all over Central Florida, setting up my pink tent, and personally connecting with people to promote my books and spread the word.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the proud owner of Sprinkle of Joy Books, a company dedicated to publishing faith-based children’s books that I’ve personally authored. My mission is to spread the joy and hope found in faith to children around the world. One of my biggest dreams is to make these books accessible to kids in third-world countries who might not otherwise have access to books. To further that goal, many of my books are available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, French, Hindi, Arabic, and Creole.

I am also deeply passionate about preserving culture and passing it on to the next generation. My books are not just for children abroad but also for those here in the U.S., helping families keep their heritage alive by encouraging kids to learn and connect with the languages their grandparents speak.

One of the aspects I enjoy most about my work is visiting schools and doing book readings for children. I also love going abroad, personally delivering my books to kids, spending time reading to them, singing together, and sharing hugs. Those moments are deeply fulfilling and remind me of the importance of this mission.

In 2024, with the amazing support of my social media followers, I successfully organized a fundraiser to print 1,500 books, which were donated to children in Central and South America through partnerships with missionaries. Every picture of a child holding one of my books fuels my passion and reminds me why I do what I do. All profits from book sales go toward printing more books to share with kids worldwide.

My catalog includes a range of books, from my very first publication, Best Story Ever, which introduces children to the Bible, to Best Birthday Ever, celebrating the story of Christmas. There are interactive workbooks like My Love Journal, ABC’s of the Bible, and Practicing Cursive with Scripture, as well as devotionals like Bible Nuggets for Girls and Bible Nuggets for Boys, tackling topics such as body image, bullying, and anxiety. Additionally, The Ollie Farm Series brings lessons to life through engaging stories of Oliver and Olivia, a brother and sister living on a farm.

What sets me apart is the heart behind every story, the commitment to reaching children globally, and the joy of seeing my books inspire hope in a world that truly needs it.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Orlando is its incredible diversity. I’ve been fortunate to connect with so many people, and it feels like every country I’ve dreamed of reaching with my books is represented here. There’s always someone I meet who’s either from that country or has family there. The mix of cultures and backgrounds is truly inspiring, and I’ve really enjoyed presenting my books to families from all walks of life.

As for what I like least? Well, I’ll admit I have a soft spot for farms and farm animals, so I’d love to have more than just four chickens in my backyard! Unfortunately, that’s not possible unless I live in an agricultural zone, which is a challenge in such a bustling city. Jokes aside, Orlando’s crowded nature does make it hard to find spacious land for farming, but the vibrant community and connections here more than make up for it.
