Life & Work with Jordan Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Green.

Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has shaped and former my journey as a creative. At the age of 5, I started playing music through piano. After years of off an on playing, I then picked up the saxophone in the 5th grade. I fell in love. The saxophone stayed with me in middle and high school, and with my band programs, I learned the value of hard work, leadership, and discipline.

After high school, I pursued my Jazz Studies Degree from the University of North Florida, and there I took up an internship where I taught inner city youth in Jacksonville. This program showed me that I had a bigger calling and purpose; to educate, motivate, and help others through creativity.

After graduating from the University of North Florida in 2019, I moved back home to Apopka, FL to teach music lessons, intern at my old high school, and become a manager in retail.

During these last 3 years, I have done many things that have pushed me towards my calling, such as starting a podcast, starting two businesses, starting a band, and hosting various music events in Orlando.

Creativity is something I truly love and hope to never stop putting my time into..

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not completely. Life is difficult, and the going has been tough; between health issues after college, the passing of multiple relatives, and trying to jump into multiple creative modalities, it hasn’t been easy. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a musician, event host, photographer, business owner, and creative. Most people know me for my music and playing with my band, “the Greenjays.” I’m also known as the host of the Austin’s Jazz Night in Winter Park, FL.

I’m most proud of the Jazz night and the connections/help I’ve given people in the community.

What sets me apart from others is that I’m in multiple creative modalities.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan on launching my brand “Outthought” to new heights on social media and the world, take my band the Greenjays on Tour, start my business “Outthought Creates” to the next.
