Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey DellaPenna.
Hi Kasey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kasey, founder of KaseyMeetsWorld. I am a full-time digital nomad who travels the world and that lives part-time in Guatemala. In 2013, I studied abroad while attending Bowling Green State University in Ohio and fell in love with travel. Since then I have visited 31 countries, mostly solo. I knew that I wanted to travel as much as possible so I sold all my possessions in 2018 and started traveling. After several years of back and forth from the U.S. where I would work and make money then travel with what savings I had made, I became a digital nomad in 2021. I started KaseyMeetsWorld along the way to help inspire and educate others, especially solo female travelers, to see the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I failed a few times along the way to where I am now. I gave up my apartment in 2018 and traveled for about 6 months, I didn’t have a plan and was living on only my savings so when they ran out, I was lucky enough to be able to move back in with my parents. I traveled on and off while living with them, but ultimately I knew that I didn’t want to have to rely on them. I moved to Florida for a second time two months before COVID hit to save up some money but that turned into 1 and a half years of living there, waiting for travel to open up again. By then I was desperate to make it work so I didn’t have to keep returning to the U.S. so I started selling my skills as a freelancer and eventually landed my first role that led to my full-time online job that I have now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a content creator who works both professionally and self-employed. KaseyMeetsWorld is my personal brand which I started around 2018, that educates and inspires others to travel longer and better. I also work full-time as a short-form video editor for a travel company. So I get to blend what I love and my passions into my job. I am known for my affordable travel videos and sharing my life living abroad. I met him on my trip to Guatemala in 2022 and we have been dating since.
