Life & Work with Katie of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie

Hi Katie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved down to the central Florida area about 6 years ago from Seattle to pursue a job with my degree in Marine Biology. I took a job at Walt Disney World with the hopes of transferring into my field but then the pandemic happened. After being furloughed, I went back to school for nursing and started in the healthcare field. Shortly after being in school, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. This is where my passion for gluten free travel started. I showcase allergy friendly food on my pages as well as just normal day to day lifestyle here in central Florida. I visit all of the central Florida theme parks and attractions and hope to find new and exciting things to share with my audience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In terms of being a creator here, it hasn’t always been smooth. I started creating content when I became a cast member and my job was safety critical so I couldn’t always share the “fun” vlogs that so many people have success with nowadays. It was hard to balance a physically demanding job with the health issues I have, while also creating content. However I’ve found a really incredible group of friends in the theme park community and feel like I’ve finally found my “jam” and style. It’s also so difficult not to compare yourself in a very saturated market but just being myself and celebrating my own milestones has never failed me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My full time job is being a pediatric ICU nurse. It’s so rewarding and allows me the flexible schedule I need to pursue content creation! Nursing and teaching go hand in hand and I love creating content that people can learn from and take what they need. In terms of my job as a content creator, I specialize in allergy friendly theme park content as well as just lifestyle here in Florida in general. It’s hard to label myself as one “niche” and I know that’s controversial in the content creation space but I have so many passions I love sharing online from running and reading to movies and home-steading.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
For someone who loves engaging and content creation, I’m actually very shy at first. I’m pretty open about my anxiety though and it’s something I’m working on in the new year. I’m a huge advocate for transparency in mental health. Social media is such a highlight reel and I like keeping it real by being honest!
