Life & Work with Kelsey Venhorst of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Venhorst

Hi Kelsey , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a passion for sports/fitness since I was a kid. I started out with joining amateur wrestling when I was 12 years old. I did that for about 3 years and enjoyed every moment of it. Then I decided to join the girls weightlifting team my sophomore year. Ended up getting pregnant my junior/senior year (I graduated a year early), so I took some time off to take care of my baby and myself. I eventually started training for Profesional Wrestling around November of 2017. At the same time, I started competing for powerlifting up until my last competition in October of 2018. By February of 2019, I made my debut in Profesional Wrestling. I traveled all over Florida and out of state (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Indiana, and New Jersey). I also have won some championships (Knockout Women’s Champion, POW Women’s Champion, IWA Florida Women’s Champion, AIWF Southern Women’s Champion, Freedom Force Women’s Champion, and currently the Old School Wrestling Women’s Champion). While Wrestling, I started training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (October 2023-present), I attended and completed my personal training certificate through National Personal Training Institute (March 2024-July 2024), completed and received my D license for unarmed security (March 2024), and I recently started teaching BJJ Kids classes at Orlando Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It takes a lot of dedication, discipline, and time management to be able to work, train, compete, go to school, and take care of my child. It’s not an easy path but it’s a path I gladly chose to take.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very bumpy road along the way. Injuries and financial struggles play a really big part of it. There waa also some personal struggles along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work for some security companies as an Event Security. I teach BJJ Kids classes at OBJJ, along with working as an independent personal trainer and a professional wrestler. In Profesional Wrestling, I am known as Persia Pierce, The SubmissionQueen. Also, I am know for competing at BJJ tournaments (currently at blue belt).

I am proud of how far I have came to get to where I am today. It took a lot of struggles and lessons to mold me into the person I am. I’ve accomplished some goals thus far and plan to accomplish many more.

I would say my drive, hard work, and having integrity sets me apart from everyone else.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been the quiet one unless I am comfortable with the person I know. I rarely got into trouble at school and had good grades. Besides having interest in sports/fitness, I also love to sing. I joined choir in high school. On the other hand, I enjoyed playing outside in nature, and was a huge fan of Shadow The Hedgehog (well, still am).
