Hi Kyla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
On TikTok “@Orlandoqueen”. I am from Michigan, when I moved to sunny Florida, I began looking for fun things to do around the city and delicious food spots, other then just theme parks. Eventually, In January of 2021, I figured I should post these amazing spots I’ve been trying, just for fun! There the name @OrlandoQueen was born! A few videos in, one went viral which was my “world food trucks” video. My life changed from there. Since then, I have been consistently posting content and watched my page grow very quickly. Being invited to events, working with local businesses, & even free vacations. I am a digital marketing major, so it’s all very ironic that now this is where my life has taken me, and I can’t wait to see what the coming years hold!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting this journey during COVID has certainly been an obstacle. Travel was diminished and people weren’t as eager to get out. Before getting vaccinated, I also didn’t eat indoors. So it was hard getting as much content as I wanted. So I had to maneuver to have more COVID friendly activities. Another obstacle would be having the willpower to turn down different opportunities that arise that don’t align with my personal beliefs. Especially not overbooking my schedule with collaborations despite them being privileges. Also catering to video creation is a lot harder to edit and sort then if I were to just promote pictures.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create videos for Central Florida businesses to promote all they have to offer. My TikTok page showcases things to do and Eat. It is always so exciting to be recognized while I’m out and told they appreciate the local tips I give them, this makes me very proud and validated. In just 11 months of posting, I’ve gained 98k followers, this makes me very proud! I believe what sets me apart is the fact short video creation is the main thing I do. Many specialize in taking pictures on Instagram or blog posts. I believe being on a newer, popular app I’m catering to a younger crowd, also showing a lot more of the business since it is an edited video, not only pictures.
What matters most to you? Why?
Holding firm to my religious beliefs is of upmost importance to me. Which is why many opportunities I turn down. I do believe in following the outline of life God creates for us in the Bible, and everything else falls in line. By putting him first, I have seen many blessings come my way. As far as my content goes, being authentic is so important to me, never promoting something I wouldn’t want my family to eat or do.
