Life & Work with Lnz Steger of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lnz Steger.

Lnz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been an artist all of my life, drawing since the age of two, and just enamored with everything to do with Art. I always knew I wanted a career as an artist, but back in the day I had only thought there were a couple options available to me. One of them, being a graphic designer, which didn’t really interest me, and the other being a tattoo artist, which interested me very much. I was 18 years old, living in Arkansas, and going to college for welding, but knew I did not want to continue that for a career choice. I made the decision to move back to my hometown in Ohio, and there I received the opportunity to be an apprentice at the local tattoo shop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road wasn’t totally smooth, especially when beginning my career. I am a female in what was, and may still be, a male dominated industry so I could feel from the beginning that I was not taken too seriously. I felt I had to prove myself more than the other apprentices, and make sure everyone knew that I was serious and passionate. My apprenticeship was a traditional one, where I did not make any money and had to do all of the shop duties and be there as a regular job, also while working another full-time job. It definitely was a character building experience, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world..

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional painter and tattoo artist. Within the painting, I mainly use watercolor, but I am very diverse in the mediums that I am able to create with. I also love acrylic and gouache painting, and enjoying experimenting when I can. I’ve been an artist all of my life and a tattoo artist for almost 25 years. I specialize in my style, which is a bit of a hybrid of realism, art Nouveau and magic. I am most proud of the elevated and healing feeling I give to my clients when creating something for them, incorporating new energies into their art, and making them feel like a new person. What sets me apart from others is the way I tap into my clients energies and try to exceed their expectations, making sure I provide them with something even more grand than they could imagine.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
They may not know that I won the tough man contest when I was 18, went to college for welding, and I’m a psychic medium.
