Life & Work with Lovique Harrigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lovique Harrigan.

Hi Lovique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I migrated to the United States from my island Anguilla where I was born and raised in the year 2016. My inspiration came from a tub filled with beads that my daughter owned.

The goal by the Grace of God – was to braid as many kids’ hair as I could so that I could get rid of all the beads that we had accumulated, realizing along the journey that not many moms were blessed with the gift of braiding. This began to feel like the path that God wanted me to pursue. That tub of beads never lessened. I now have more than what I started with.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What is a smooth road? Every journey has its ups and downs. There were many times I stopped braiding, thinking this won’t get me where I want to go in life.

My focus was more on being able to financially take care of my family. Later I realized that though it is about the income, it was MORE about the beautiful faces that brighten up when they look in the mirror at the end of their service.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I strive to provide an environment that is caring, loving, and safe for my little and big clients.

Yes, professionalism is important as well, but being loving and caring towards all my clients is what I think sets me apart from others. I try to provide the best service that I can and satisfy my client’s needs.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories would be sitting under the trees at the back of my grandmother’s house.

Growing up on a 35-square-mile island, we spent the majority of our time outdoors caring for the animals like sheep and goats. Sitting under the trees with my grandma and cousins and eating home-cooked meals was always the best part of growing up.
