Life & Work with Lyndsey Vanpool

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsey Vanpool.

Lyndsey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been into decor from a little girl, I was always redecorating my room and waking up early on my family member’s birthdays to decorate the house before they woke up. In 2015, I became certified in wedding and event planning through University of Central Florida’s online program. For years I was lost in the business just doing it on the side as I worked different jobs. No job was a fit for me I did great at them, don’t get me wrong(restaurant serving, furniture sales, retention agent, banker) I tried it all but none made me feel complete. Working on my business on the weekends doing what I was passionate was so much more rewarding then any job I had worked. In 2018 I became a certified balloon artist after going to school YES SCHOOL for balloons in Miami, FL. Balloons are really what took my business off the ground.

Originally I said I’m going to just do balloon decor because people love it and they book it from me like crazy but it wasn’t enough to just do the balloons. I wanted to help clients bring their DREAM EVENTS TO REALITY which is also the slogan for my business Dream Chaser Events LLC. For the last year and a half now, I have been blessed to officially work for myself. With God, my spouses support and family I was able to become self-employed and give my business my all. After that moment is when Dream Chaser Events went to the next level. I used to wish for one event every week and now on some weekends, we do 10. My bonus kids also have been a huge part of growing my business because they helped with set up a lot of my earlier parties. I’m now able to hire help which is a blessing. I’ve always wanted to give others opportunities and pay them well. My business is so fun but a lot of work too. This year we’ve invested in a box truck for easier deliveries for our clients and an office/warehouse space which gives my clients the opportunity to meet with me face to face to discuss weddings and other events. In the future, I hope to continue to grow my business and become a better event planner, decorator and balloon artist. I truly love what I do it’s my passion.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Wow, I started and I stopped many times because I would get discouraged but even the hard times were so worth it. I would have busy weeks and slow weeks often, I underpriced and overworked, I made things harder than they had to be for myself many times but pricing was definitely where I messed up originally I was paying for the clients events myself after buying supplies. Now I offer a quality service at a quality price and make enough to continue to grow and invest in my business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in balloon decor and event design. I’m super proud of my continued growth. I can see the growth from pictures of my work when I first started versus now. What sets me apart is my unique design eye and professionalism.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Please invest in quality products and training so you’re not overworking and underpaying yourself. Event decorations sounds like fun but it’s a lot of physical and mental work so be ready to give your all. I honestly believe you have to have passion to want to do it.
