Life & Work with Maria and Richard Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria and Richard Williams.

Hi Maria and Richard, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Funny story, our business started when we purchased our first home. Once you buy your home it brings the upkeep and having to fill it. At the time my family of 4 was moving from a 1 bedroom to a 3/2 house. My wife and I love the furniture and home decor from Pottery Barn and West Elm furniture. Though at the time we were not able to afford it. So, still needing the furniture, I decided to build it. With my wife being gifted with her words of encouragement and her natural talents in interior design. I was extremely motivated to build anything. One piece turned to two, as family and friends gathered at our home, two then quickly reached over 100s. With that growth we were able to showcase our furniture and home decor in the same storefront that we have always loved of West Elm. Now, currently our business has begun a new chapter, as we left the area of South Florida and moved to Winter Haven FL. Seeking a better wholesome life for our family of 5, in preparation to opening a storefront in this town that we have already grown to love.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Business is never easy, especially when you have a family. Time is very important to us, for it’s the one thing that you cannot get back. As we are very family oriented the last thing my wife and I want to do is look back and regret how we spent our time. Our children only see their ages once, and with the upkeep in South Florida, vigorous 9-5 work schedules and keeping up with orders. It was hurting our marriage and our family time. So, we sold our home, leaned on prayer and faith and asked God to direct us in the right direction. We stopped the business to realign our marriage and family, and God directed us to Winter Haven FL. Currently running our business out of our apartment in search of a new home.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in modern farmhouse furniture and home décor, known for our custom dining room tables, media consoles, barndoors, custom interior signage, etc. Now we’ve entered a new realm of custom engraving, expanding our reach to personalized engraved cutting boards, charcuterie boards, personalized gifts, signs and much more. Including business and logo engraving.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We are pretty open with our clients and treat everyone we work with like family. Being open and transparent we feel allows for more relatability.
