Life & Work with Marius Groover of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marius Groover

Hi Marius, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A charitable heart has guided me throughout my life. My childhood fascination with superheroes taught me about the power of resilience, hope, and human goodness. I was especially moved by my sister Jasmine, who courageously fought both a rare neurodegenerative disease and cancer. Her heroism inspired me to bring my love for helping others into the world of cosplay, founding “Heroes for Higher”—a group of cosplayers who use their creativity and compassion to make a difference. From feeding the homeless to uplifting sick children in hospitals, our mission is to bring hope and joy wherever we go.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been far from easy, but as someone wisely said, “If the road is easy, you’re likely headed in the wrong direction.” Our two biggest challenges are finding the funds to continue our mission—a common struggle for young nonprofits—and securing the help needed to assist others. Despite limited resources and a high demand for aid, we’re fortunate to partner with companies like Advent Health, Publix, Keurig/Dr. Pepper, Staples, Liquid Death, The Freedom Tour and many others, who have generously supported our work. As we approach our third year, we feel proud of our accomplishments, knowing many nonprofits don’t make it past their first year.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Heroes for Higher stands apart from typical nonprofits because we blend impactful humanitarian efforts with the spirit of cosplay, embodying fictional superheroes while also acting as real-life heroes. Our talented members create their own costumes, adding a unique, heartfelt touch to each interaction. Whether we’re visiting children’s hospitals to bring joy to families, feeding the less fortunate, or partnering with other charities to make a difference, we are dedicated to finding and filling the needs of our community. We are most proud of the smiles and hope we bring through our distinctive approach to service.

What’s next?
In the future, I hope to grow Heroes For Higher to enhance our global reach and create positive change. Our vision includes establishing international branches and building a network of individuals dedicated to spreading hope. Among our future projects are mobile wash stations and tiny home communities for people experiencing homelessness, as well as group homes to support young adults with special needs. We also plan to continue working together with children’s foundations, charities, and fundraisers that advocate for community strength, education, and a brighter, hopeful future for all children. Most people know the phrase, “With great power comes great responsibility,” a proverb popularized by the Spider-Man movie, but don’t fully understand its meaning. It means that people who have the ability to do something should use their power for the good of others.
