Life & Work with Melba J Rubera of Kissimmee/Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melba J Rubera.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the lending business in 2001 when I was hired by a builder to take applications at his model home and one of the realtors that frequently visits us admired my dedication and told me that I should look into getting my loan officer license, so I took the challenge.
After getting my license I joined “Apex Lending” a national organization with over 1,000 loan officers, so it was a true surprise and joy when I became the top producer the first year and kept that place until the market crashed in 2009.
In those years I helped many get their loan officer license and at one point I had 18 individuals under my branch, but unfortunately I had to close the branch when Apex Lending did not survive the challenges of the market at that time. I joined another franchise, but got discouraged with their practice so I accepted a regular job with steady income. However, my passion to help people brought me back and today I joined efforts with Steve Hays who was owner of Apex Lending and now the owner of NSH Mortgage because we share the same commitment and vision to make a difference in Central Florida. My heart to serve always pushes me to go above and beyond for each of my borrowers and with perseverance I try to get the best deal and help my clients achieve the American dream of home ownership in spite of the challenges or circumstances their situation may bring. I do not give up easy and like to ensure every client gets the best deal out there. Today my business continues to grow thanks to the loyalty of my past clients that highly recommend me to their friends and family and that to me is the biggest blessing and reward.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
After having 18 loan officers in 2009 I had to step down to provide for my growing family, but my hunger to help more families become home owners brought me back and I had to start from zero again. Today I am supporting over 20 realtors help their clients get approved and moved into their dream home.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a loan officer that specializes in helping families who face challenges in getting approved and who would easily be turned down for a loan. However with creativity and God’s guidance I always find a way to overcome the obstacles.
I am proud to say that I go the extra mile to find ways to help people become home owners regardless of their challenges or current situation.
What sets me apart from other loan officers is that I treat everyone as if they were my family and fight for everyone’s best interest without fear to make sure they get the best deal, while still providing fast and excellent service.

What makes you happy?
Nothing brings more joy to my soul than to have the opportunity to help people accomplish their dream to become a homeowner and stop paying rent… and because of that I feel blessed everyday. I do not imagine myself doing anything else.
