Meet Michele Butler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Butler.

Hi Michele, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career started out as a part-time job when I was a new mommy. I was a file girl for a wedding planning company. Back then, there were only about a half dozen wedding planners in Orlando. It was a new idea. I truly fell in love with event planning and turned a part-time job into a passion and career. 11 years after becoming a wedding planner, I would launch my own company. Fortunate enough to be invited on all of the coveted high-end hotel and country club properties lists.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has certainly not been easy. A recession threatened my passion as my employer could no longer pay me my full salary. I knew I couldn’t settle for any less. After a brief search for jobs in my career field, I launched my own company out of necessity and survival. In a recession, no less and my first year in business doubled my income.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an event planner, plain and simple. I do offer design to my clients but have a designer on staff to offer that creative mind. Most all of my business is weddings, parties and events. Social to be more descriptive. I’ve probably done more weddings than any other type of event but I just love the other events as well. I always joke and say if you can do weddings, you can do anything. They have a mind and life of their own and there are certainly lots of emotions and lots of people involved with lots of emotions. I am most proud of being able to stay calm in the most stressful moments. I’ve been told that I also bring a calmness to those around me. Trust me, I maybe cracking inside but I do my very best to never let anyone see it.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Here’s hoping it only gets better after everything we’ve been through with covid. Our industry, like so many, was horribly effected by that crazy virus. I forecast a roaring 20’s type of mentality. At least for those who can afford it. Let’s just hope there isn’t a great depression to follow!
