Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Vega.
Hi Naomi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Florida, so having lived here my entire life makes Orlando my home sweet home. I have always had a passion for creating beautiful things. My love for interior design came at a very young age as I watched my mom decorate and beautifully rearrange our home throughout the years. My mom worked as a sales representative for a small home decor company and I remember browsing through the new product catalogs that would arrive and picking out things I’d envision myself having in my own home one day. Being raised in a single-parent household, money was always tight. I was taught to repurpose items to create beautiful “new” things, which sparked my entrepreneurial spirit into selling items I was no longer in need of.
At the age of nine, I remember taking an old shelf in the corner of our garage and setting it up as a store to sell toys and books that I no longer wanted. I would open the garage and invite all the kinds in the neighborhood to come and shop my used stuff. I eventually sold all my stuff and started baking and making candy apples in the fall time and sold those too! At one point, I had the neighborhood kids ringing my doorbell asking what I had on sale that week. I just knew one day I’d combine the two passions into one. I purchased my first house with my Husband in 2016 and shortly after started my home decor Instagram account @glamorouslyliving. My first post was in May of 2017 of a summer vignette I had created and I would continue to post pictures of my decorated home on the weekends when I wasn’t working at my full-time job. I would stage my living room and bedroom to create beautiful looks, similar to those in magazines.
I always enjoyed inspiring others through my decor and strived to spark an emotion from my designs. I wanted my home to not only look beautiful but to also feel inviting and I wanted to show people that they too could create beautiful lived-in spaces. It was important to me to show that you didn’t need a lot of money or a house to create a space that you enjoyed coming home too. I rented several apartments and condos prior to owning my first house and always enjoyed making it as “homey” as possible through decorating. As I transformed our new house into a home, I made sure to document it and showcase my work online. Shortly after, I got to meet so many amazing people in the online home decor community that I’m humbled enough to call my friends today.
I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with some really amazing companies and I still continue to work hard on creating long-term partnerships with them. Having a social media presence allowed me to create a unique bond with my followers, which I refer to as my Insta family. It has also allowed me to start my own online business, Glamorously Living Home, an online boutique selling custom decorative throw pillows designed by me. I launched my first small collection in the Winter of 2020 with just a few designs, with three of them being named after my beautiful daughters Jasmine and twins Ava and Olivia. In just a short time, I have been blessed to grow my business quickly and will be launching my summer 2021 collection with 11 new designs and five new products, making this my biggest collection yet! You can find my online on Instagram still posting pictures of my home along with styling and decorating videos to inspire all home interior lovers. I also share a lot of personal home life with my family and daily peeks into normal tasks such as cleaning, cooking or chasing my toddler twins around.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a social media influencer and content creator can be fun, rewarding but sometimes stressful too. There is always a high demand to put out new content, which can be hard to deliver when you have a busy lifestyle. Having three kids and running a small online business has defiantly made it difficult to stay active so being organized and planning out content is extremely important to be successful online. You have to be passionate about it to stay motivated because a lot of hours and time goes into creating content. Running a small business also has many challenges, from working with merchants, ordering inventory and marketing my business. I’ve learned so much in the short time that I’ve been in business. I have failed at some things and have excelled in others but creating and offering beautiful products to my clients makes it all worthwhile.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A day at work for me usually consist of marketing my business online and growing my online presence. I truly love chatting with my clients and seeing how excited they get to receive and style their pillows! I also do a lot of research and phone calls to track down beautiful, high-quality fabrics from different merchants. I negotiate wholesale pricing in order to offer my clients custom, designer fabrics at an affordable price, that is extremely important to me. I coordinate photoshoot sessions with my photographer to get pictures for my website and social media. Being a small business requires a lot of multi-tasking from packing, shipping and selling. As my business grows, I’m excited to expand my team and see that grow too!
