Life & Work with Natalya Ogirya of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalya Ogirya.

Hi Natalya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
it all started in my early childhood…i loved listening to music,,.especially classical. when i was 5 years old i watched a movie where tango music was present…that’s when i told my mom that i wanted to dance to this music…that’s where my dream started…

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I didn’t start dancing right away…at first I started doing rhythmic gymnastics and years later I started dancing Tango

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a tango instructor and an owner and organizer of Orlando Tango Club. I teach group and individual classes in four cities of Central Florida. Also I am a tango DJ at local events on a regular basis, and also have taught, DJ’ed and performed in different states and internationally. I host Milongas every week in Orlando, and every month in four different cities of Florida. I organize a Spring Tango Weekend yearly. My goal is to build and strengthen our tango community through social dancing in a supportive environment.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As a devoted tango professional, I actively participate in international events, tango festivals, marathons and local milongas. I see that tango is becoming more and more popular in the world. and people of different ages and backgrounds choose tango as their preferred social activity. I hope that this trend will continue
