Today we’d like to introduce you to No Load Time Podcast. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The No Load Time podcast was an idea that originated from Obed Velez and Joel Young in the summer of 2017. Prior to the launch of the podcast, Obed and Joel had connected when they first met each other as colleagues while working for their employer in central Florida. During lunch breaks, we would often find ourselves discussing video games, comic book movies, Star Wars, etc. These would end up being the talking points for the conversational podcast that would later be launched. They thought to themselves “why not start a podcast around these very topics we discuss regularly?” and from there the idea grew to a weekly show on Thursday nights where Obed and Joel would jump on a Zoom call and record the show. Since that time, we have experienced quite a bit of growth. We now broadcast our episode recordings on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Live in addition to publishing the audio version on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc. The show has been fortunate to receive shout outs from influential voices in the fandom space such as Ashley Eckstein (voice actress for Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Todd McFarlane (comic book artist and creator). In addition, this year we were featured in several news outlets (IGN, ComicBook.com, Screen Rant, etc.) for our coverage and insightful question to Justice League actor “Ray Fisher” at MegaCon Orlando 2021. No Load Time has been to various conventions and gaming tournaments such as Star Wars Celebration, San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con, Mega Con, and CEOtaku. The No Load Time podcast now has over 200 episodes and we are excited about where the future leads!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since the beginning of the podcast, we have had to endure several challenges. This show is paid for out of our very own pockets which required us to make a significant investment in recording hardware and technology. This has continued to be one of our biggest challenges as we look to improve the quality of the show while remaining on a strict budget. The other thing that has been a challenge is our schedules. No Load Time is a passion project and we try our best to juggle our personal full-time jobs and families while remaining consistent in delivering episodes for our audience. This requires us to record late in the evening after long busy days which is not always the easiest but is something that we pride ourselves in our commitment to publish content weekly. No matter the challenges we have faced, we count it an honor to be able to have a platform to discuss the things we love to our audience.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are creatives and technological specialists respectively. It is our joy to be able to work in our respective industries while continuing to grow and progress in our skill sets. The creative and technology industry is constantly evolving which requires us to adapt. This helps us maintain knowledgeable of trends and the future of these industries.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to us while recording our podcast is that the information we present and discuss is accurate and non-biased. You will see us fact check on the fly is we are not 100% certain about a topic or when quoting numbers. It’s important to us in this day and age where everything could be passed as fact that the information and topics we relay to our audience is indeed factual.
