Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakira Garcia.
Hi Shakira, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am 34 mother of two teenagers, I moved from Puerto Rico to Florida five years ago where I met my husband, as soon as I came to the state started working on a better future. But in my heart, I knew I could do better and help others, two years ago I accepted Jesus and started working on helping others through art. During the pandemic in 2020, I founded Desde Mi Biblia and I have dedicated my days to provide inspiration through the word daily by bible journaling, painting, crafting and more through social media besides this I provide free workshops monthly in Kissimmee to the community and I also do private workshops. Journaling has help me and others with all the emotions and situations happening around us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth, I had financial struggles, sometimes even lack of creativity, my emotions and natural struggles. Sometimes feeling that I am alone in this not feeling supported, there has been times I wanted to quit and leave everything but I pray and think things through and think of all the good things that comes from what we do. I have decided to move forward with Desde Mi Biblia and take advantage of all the opportunities God provides.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Desde Mi Biblia, we work on a few things like subscription creative boxes, stickers, personalized items, bookmarks, bible journaling but most of all spreading the gospel through art, I share devotionals and bible journaling on social media and workshops. I dedicate my days to being able to support others through prayers, messages or simply supporting others on day to day situations. I am very passionate about the community but God has put a special love for the homeless, domestic violence victims and kids. I hope that I am able to continue to grow and be able to reach more people and continue to help.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Credit where credit goes, I give credit first to God, to my husband Julio Garcia that supports all of my ideas and embraces everything with love to my kids for sharing their mom and time. I have also the support of my Pastors Ismael Rios and Jennybert Grullon and last but not least, my amazing friend Denisse Rivas that supports my ideas and pushes me to take all the opportunities available.
