Life & Work with Stella Wilson of Ormond Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Wilson

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From Chronic Struggles to Empowering Health
In 2016, a friend recommended BeBalanced to me, and honestly, the rest is history!

For the longer version, my journey has been a lifelong battle with weight gain—I often joke that I’ve been dieting since I was six years old. My earliest memory of this is attending a Weight Watchers meeting with my mother and grandmother. But over the years, my challenges became about more than just weight. By the time I was 46, my health had taken a serious downturn. I was battling a long list of chronic conditions, including insomnia, pain, inflammation, and fibromyalgia. I was terrified that I’d end up on disability before the age of 50.

Ironically, this low point came during a time when life should have been wonderful. I had just moved back to Florida (my happy place—I love the beach!), I was engaged to an amazing man, co-owned a beach condo with friends, and had exciting plans for travel and fun. But my body didn’t get the “Life is Great” memo.

As a clinical pharmacist with over 20 years of experience in top-tier hospital systems, I turned to traditional medicine first. But when those approaches failed, I felt like I was out of options—until a friend introduced me to BeBalanced. She said, “Yes, it’s weight loss, but it helps with so many other symptoms too. It’s really working for me; you should at least talk to them.” That conversation changed everything.

The program quickly helped me feel and see its power. Not only did I lose weight, but I also found relief from so many of the chronic issues I’d been living with for years. BeBalanced reignited my passion for helping people improve their health in meaningful, lasting ways.

When I graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, my goal was to help individuals get off medications and live healthier lives. But our healthcare model doesn’t leave time for this. Instead, it focuses on optimizing medications, leaving little room to guide patients through the lifestyle changes necessary to truly transform their health. BeBalanced brought me back to my roots—it gave me the tools to help people achieve health naturally, addressing the root causes of their challenges rather than just managing symptoms.

Now, I’m not only healthier and more vibrant myself, but I also get to help others experience those same transformations. It’s incredibly fulfilling to empower people to reclaim their health and live their best lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Whew, no—it’s tough! Owning a business is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Leading a team without the structure and systems I was used to in the hospital setting has been a steep learning curve. Marketing feels like a constant battle every month to keep the momentum going and attract the right people. Add in leases, legalities, state reports, employee records, and juggling what feels like a million things at once—all while seeing clients—and some days it feels overwhelming.

Thankfully, my husband has been my rock through it all. He’s taken on so much behind the scenes, like handling state reports, navigating legalities, and keeping up with employee records. His support has been invaluable and allows me to focus on what I do best.

What truly gets me through, though, is the success of our clients. Seeing their transformations—their joy when they achieve goals they once thought were impossible—is what keeps me going. But it’s not just me; watching how my team also responds to those successes, celebrating with clients and getting personally involved in their journeys, is incredibly rewarding. Knowing we’re all in this together, working to change lives, makes every challenge worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve always known I was going into medicine—it was practically in my DNA. My mom was a nurse, and from my early years in Girl Scouts to lifeguarding as a teenager, I was drawn to the healing arts and helping others.

However, I quickly realized nursing wasn’t the path for me. I loved chemistry and the intricacies of how the body works, so I decided to pursue my Doctorate in Pharmacy. I was thrilled to be accepted into the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, where I made lifelong friends and had the opportunity to engage in some truly impactful work.

One of my early positions had me working hands-on in a pediatric and PICU ward. I attended codes and assisted with pediatric sedation—it was rewarding and intense. But being in the hospital setting, I witnessed firsthand the cumulative effects of years of poor eating habits and neglecting health. I saw so many patients suffering from preventable conditions, and it left a lasting impression on me.

I realized I wanted to help people before they reached that point—and then, in my 40s, I found myself heading in the same direction. I was battling chronic health issues that stemmed from years of putting myself last. It was a wake-up call, and it reignited my passion to help others reclaim their health before it’s too late.

That journey led me to BeBalanced and functional health coaching, where I found my “how.” This work allows me to address root causes, help clients prioritize their health, and guide them to lasting transformations.

What sets me apart is my unique blend of expertise as a clinical pharmacist and my passion for holistic health. I bridge the gap between traditional medicine and preventive care, offering clients a personalized approach to wellness. I’m most proud of the way my work helps people regain energy, confidence, and a sense of control over their health.

This journey has brought me full circle, back to the reason I entered the field of medicine: to truly help people heal and thrive—and to ensure I do the same for myself.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely—there’s no way I could have done this alone. So many incredible people have played a role in my success and the success of my business.

First and foremost, my husband deserves immense credit. He’s been my rock, taking on countless behind-the-scenes tasks—all while serving as my sounding board and keeping me grounded through every challenge. His unwavering support has been invaluable, allowing me to focus on what I do best: empowering our clients to achieve their health goals.

Of course, I owe so much to my clients. Their willingness to trust the process, embrace change, and share their successes is the heart of what I do. Each transformation—whether it’s newfound energy, confidence, or better health—is a testament to their courage and commitment. Seeing their progress fuels my passion and reminds me why this work matters so deeply.

Then there’s my team. They’re more than just employees—they’re partners in the mission to change lives. Watching them connect with clients on a deeply personal level, celebrating every success and milestone, inspires me every day. Their dedication and genuine care are what make our work so impactful and meaningful.

One of my early mentors was Dr. Steve Hughlett, who now hosts Simple, Healthy Choices for Weight Loss. He had a profound impact on my approach to health, encouraging me to prioritize healthy lifestyle choices rather than relying solely on medications. His guidance helped me see the bigger picture of wellness and continues to inspire the work I do today.

I’ve also been fortunate to learn from others in the functional health space and within the BeBalanced franchise network. BeBalanced is a new and emerging franchise, and having that framework to lean on as I built my business has been invaluable. Their resources, guidance, and support have helped me navigate challenges and grow more confidently.

Thanks to this support, I’ve also been able to expand my work and start DrStellaRx.com, where I offer tailored functional lab readings and functional medicine coaching. This venture has allowed me to take a more personalized approach with a different set of clients, helping them uncover root causes and create health plans that truly align with their unique needs.

It truly takes a village, and I’m incredibly grateful to have such a supportive and inspiring network behind me.
