Today we’d like to introduce you to Takeia Dixon.
Hi Takeia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello, my name is Takeia Dixon. I started my business three years ago due to my 2 daughters having sickle cell disease. It has been tough to keep a job for a long time because my husband and I are back-and-forths to Nemours children’s hospital. So this year will be the last year I get fired from any job. I decided to open up an ice cream shop and dedicated it to my two daughters and other kids worldwide who suffer from sickle cell disease SS. The name of my shop is Chozen Frozen and More.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been a faith walk, so I often wanted to quit. But when I look at my daughters, I’m reminded of why I started this business and why I should keep pushing forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I’ve always been the person that wanted to see everyone happy. Seeing others happy gives me so much joy. So it makes me so happy to see people come into my ice cream shop and leave with such beautiful smiles.
What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
Being who you are, being free, and knowing that you are different.
