Today we’d like to introduce you to Terra Pearson.
Hi Terra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a local girl, a Seminole County native— who has loved the art of hair care and trendy styling ever since I was a teenage girl. I couldn’t even imagine becoming a full-time stylist, but only It’s crazy until it happens!
For six years, I worked as an enrollment and billing specialist for one of New York’s top health insurance companies, all while dedicating my evenings and weekends to my craft. In 2016, I became a licensed cosmetologist, and in 2020 I took a giant leap of faith, quit my job, and opened The Gift of Grace Salon and Spa.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Last January I took a great leap of faith and quit my corporate America job as an Insurance rep to become a full-time hairstylist. Little did I know that three months into my dream, COVID-19 would displace me from the salon and test my faith.
With the grace God has gifted me with, I use my position to extend the healing ministry of Christ to my clients through Agape Love. I count it a joy to be used for God’s glory! My CRAZY faith says I won’t quit when the going gets rough, and my faith is strengthened through every test and trial. I know that I am a vessel full of power with a treasure from the lord.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the owner of The Gift of Grace Salon and Spa, where I specialize in Natural & Curly Hair Care, Cuts, and Treatments. I am also a Hair Loss and Scalp Treatment Specialist. As a stylist, I aspire to make a difference through hair and scalp care service appointments that nourish the body and uplift the soul. My hope is that every client catches hold of the joy-filled self-assurance & remember that we don’t have to apologize for our beautiful and magical hair.
I love to inspire and remind clients that your hair is the first crown that adorns your head, and since you only get one crown, “OWN IT!” When we are proud of what we have, we honor ourselves and acknowledge our uniqueness. At the Gift of Grace Salon and Spa, I hope all my clients find joy in their journey of loving their naturally curly hair.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, “With man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
