Today we’d like to introduce you to The Cashiers. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The Cashiers came together while interning at Plush Studios in 2012. While learning how to engineer under some of the best mentors in the city, after a while we thought it only made sense to starting making beats as well. We found as engineers, that it’s much easier to get in the room with some of these artists, and half the time they were rapping on YouTube beats. So, we would try to capitalize on the need for original music. Over the process of doing that consistently, we were able to find artist that we wanted to help and grow with. After working out of Plush for a few years, and working with hundreds of people, we finally had the opportunity to build our own private studio in Longwood. This has allowed us the opportunity to focus on building “The Cashier” brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any type of art comes with a massive amount of rejection. Just being able to say that we pay our bills by doing music is a blessing. Starting out its always hard. As an engineer, no one will trust you right away no matter how good or bad you are. So, the first obstacle was how do we even get in the room with an artist. And you find out as an intern, that it just takes patience and consistency. The simple concept of showing up every day is how we started to gain trust. Once certain people see that your serious, the universe seems to work in your favor. Older engineers and producers would start to give us work that they might not have time for. As long as we kept executing, the work kept coming.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a production team, 3 producers and 2 engineers. Production wise have worked with most of the rappers and singers in Orlando, along with many others. We have spent the most time growing with Clicklak, an amazing rapper from Sanford. As engineers we have had the opportunity to work with John K, Prince Royce, Moneybagg Yo, Kid Ink, Hotboii, NoCap, Kanebeatz, and many other great artist. Overall, we are most proud of the growth that we see in each other. Coming from being interns and working for free to being able to feed our families from music is the best feeling.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We make it very easy to contact us through social media @Cashier_Lew, @Cashmeoutunk, or @Prodbythecashiers. Having our own studio has allowed us the freedom to work with as many people as possible and we hope to continue that.
