Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Ware.
Hi Thomas, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a father of four, and I’ve been married to my wife for 13 yrs. I’ve been doing music for most of my life. I’m a producer, singer, songwriter, and a pastor. I own a record label called Contagious Hope Music Group. I recently released my first single called, Love Me to Death. The song took off pretty quickly, and as my team and I began to approach touring and appearances; I began to think to myself, how awesome it would be to actually do more than entertain but actually cause an impact wherever we go. In working side by side with many Ministries, I began to notice that there’s a blind spot when discussing mental health. I thought, what if we try to bring more awareness to the subject of mental illness within Faith. My team thought that it would be a great idea and very impactful, if we could start that conversation. We came up with, Music and Conversations. A small settings tour, where a mental health specialist would join me and answer questions in between music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was given two years to live when I first started gospel music. I was diagnosed with a rare tumor, which required doctors to cut off my right arm, a portion of my chest, and my shoulder blade. I didn’t go through with the surgery, but I surpassed the time given by 13 yes now. I feel that my gift has a purpose and I desire to do more than just entertain. In desiring to do more, it seems to cause a bit of a ripple at times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer, songwriter, and producer. I specialize in writing all genres of music, and singing.
I’m proud of where I am on the Gospel charts and all of the placements on digital platform playlists. It’s really big to come from a small city and having no easy road to the industry.
I believe what sets me apart is my ability to go between genres without being recognized by style. Many times you can identify a writer due to their one unique sound.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe my ability to fit in any setting helps a lot. I’m able to listen and address the concerns of others. I’m pretty easygoing.
