Life & Work with Tiffany Snook of Melbourne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Snook.

Tiffany Snook

Tiffany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always knew I wanted to do hair since I was a little girl. I would do my grandmas dog( she had a poodle) hair and my barbies hair all the time. I dual enrolled my senior year in highschool and finished everything the August after graduating highschool. I started at a mom and pop and then went to a Hair Cuttery and soaked up free education and then started at another salon where I stayed 6 years. I then realized that I wanted to start booth rent and take control of my career. I did that for a year and then opened a salon suite. I absolutely loved my salon suite and it felt like home! The plan was to open a double with one of my hair friends but she wasn’t ready yet and I was, so I went into a single suite. And then the one next to me opened up and the timing was right so she came on board for nights and Saturdays and another friend I have wanted to do just weekends so then I hired someone for day time and every other weekend so I could take off to be with my family. Then a third suite opened right around the time my weekend girl said she wanted to go full time. Everything fell right into place. Each suite are cohesive with a boho theme and wood panels on the wall along with a boho fandelier in each room. We then became a 3 suite salon. It gives the salon environment but the quietness of a suite. We all bounce ideas off of each other and give ideas and help out with each other clients when needed. I am extremely lucky to have the team I have, they are very talented ranging from lived in color, balayages, blondes, handtied extensions and haircutting. I am very blessed with how everything fell into place at the right timing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say everything that was ment to happen, happened exactly the way it was ment to. It took a-lot of personal growth and things that happened along the way thru my career to make me realize what I wanted and didn’t want for my career and salon. I am also very lucky to remain friends with alot of people. The hair industry can be so hard sometimes with so many different personalities working together, and although I do feel like I get along with almost everyone, there will always be times that can be bumpy. There was two major career events one involving me blossoming into a booth renter and then another blossoming into a suite owner. At the time friendships were destroyed, but they made a come back. It’s hard being friends with bosses and also trying to do what is best for yourself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I absolutely love luxury lived in color. Meaning color that you can wear 3-6 months. I love doing foil work and utilizing color and placements to give it a very natural root and blend. Some of my girls I only see 1-2 times a year and their hair still looks amazing when they come back. I also really enjoy doing handtied extensions and the glow up it gives some clients. I originally learned a techniqur and got certified and then from there I have learned tons of information on handtied, and have stumbled upon a technique to where my clients corners don’t flop, it doesn’t hurt their head and it is very secure. It’s an amazing feeling when you see your clients self confidence boost after their hair is all done. I have always been a giver so when I can give people happiness, it gives me purpose.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Community over competition is always the answer. Kindness and support speaks volumes. I recently started offering “curl bars” for events. I offer 1:1 extension training to teach the technique I do. A simple follow on instagram and a heart on our posts is always appreciated!
