Today we’d like to introduce you to Wanda Taylor.
Hi Wanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started Way of Life Adornments in 2017 with a vision to build a Brand around Culture. Something that I myself and my customers would love that can carry on for many years to come. I’ve always had a passion for fashion since I was a teenager. And once I became an adult, I fell in love with African & Bohemian style fashion whether it be clothes, accessories, etc. This is what got me inspired in making my artwork focused around History and Culture. I love making accessories using specifically African findings, but I also incorporate Bohemian & Egyptian style into my collection as well. My future goals for Way of Life Adornments is to continue what I’m doing and periodically adding new styles as I go that will fit perfectly in my collection of art pieces.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Being an artist, you have to constantly come up with new ideas and strategies. It’s tough at times. But the goal is to stay focused, which is not easy with so many distractions. But I constantly have to remind myself that I know what I want for my business now and in the future.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an Artist, I focus mostly on African Inspired accessories. I’m mostly known for my Dreadlock Jewelry which can be used not only on Locs but also for Twists and Braids. I’m proud that I can create meaningful artful pieces that have already made thousands of people from around the world happy. I think what sets me apart is that I not only create these accessories just to create them this is something I also love I wear myself. And when I do I get so many compliments which brings me so much joy. They are truly unique one-of-a-kind accessories.
What’s next?
Well since I sell mostly Hair Accessories, I do plan on incorporating hair products into my Business in the near future. I’m also a Licensed Cosmetologist so I know a bit about hair care, so I think with strategic and careful planning it’ll work out well for me
