Life & Work with Wil Milz of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wil Milz.

Hi Wil, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Short after I moved here from Brooklyn NY I got into entertainment. I have been doing stand up comedy for 12 years, Podcasting for 7 years & Social Media Comedy for 10 yrs. I got my start doing stand up at the other bar in 2013 at the advice from close friends due to me consistently cracking jokes and being the center of attention. Podcasting was something I got into early in its inception. I saw that it would one day be bigger than radio. I used to use social media commentary as an outlet to discuss my very harsh opinions on things like religion, politics & other divisive subjects. I soon realized that Comedy and those subjects did not resonate with my audience. My original page (@King_Dirtbag) was cancelled due to this disconnection and consistently offending people. I then disconnected from that persona, dropped the King Dirtbag moniker & reemerged as myself Wil Milz and took off! And her we are today

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Comedy is subjective. It’s hard to find your voice, audience and cadence. Being that I juggle 3 different hats (Stand Up comedy, Podcasting, Social Media Influencer )with 3 different audiences, I’ve now found a way to bring the 3 together.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional stand up comedian, Podcaster & Social Media Influencer/Comedian. I most proud of my Studio. I own All Jokes Aside TV/Media Studios where I film my Podcasts & Content. My Flagship Podcast is The All Jokes Aside Podcast & my Solo Podcast is”The Nasty Work Show” … I’m also contracted with Complex networks releasing weekly content on their socials and just recently signed a 3 year mgmt contract with Jonny Shipes, CEO of Goodtalk Records

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I would say seek out the person whose accomplishments and success align with your future goals and ask them for help or guidance. My mentor(S) in comedy has always been the Godfather of Orlando Comedy Ken Miller and the Late great Raynard “Genesis” Mccleese
