Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana James.
Hi Alana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At a young age, my mother always had me in dance classes, acting, singing and modeling. My whole life was about modeling until around the age of 25, I decided to become a photographer. There were a lot of paying jobs for models that my clients would always ask if I had any models to wear their clothing or makeup. It just made complete sense to start an in house castings agency for my photography work. Eventually, it grew to other platforms like music videos, brand ambassadors, and promotions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth, but it also has not been tough considering in my area we are the only casting agency as well as the largest and independent modeling group in north central Florida.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer, creative director, casting director and model coach. I am known for modeling and photography. I specialize in beauty, fashion, and creative photography. I am most proud of my published works in magazines as well as seeing the models that I have coached accomplish their dreams. What sets me apart from others is that I have been there before so I understand the business and I know exactly what it takes to get where you need to go as an independent model.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a loner. I never really had a lot of friends it was always just me and maybe one or two other people. I did come from a divorced home but I had an amazing mother and an amazing stepdad so it never really felt like I was missing anything. I grew up with an older sister and two older brothers. I was the baby. When I was in elementary school, I began reading books about HTML CSS and JavaScript from there, I started designing my own websites and graphic design, I was always interested in the design process.
