Meet Amanda Schade of Performance Massage and Recovery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Schade.

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a licensed massage therapist in 2013 to have as a part-time job. In 2019, I decided to go all in and make it my full-time career! I started branching out in the field. In 2020 I took a SportStretch® class. SportStretch® is a floor mat, a movement-based, full-body routine that consists of both actively and passively stretching a client, which has given me the opportunities to go to the NFL combine & Reese’s Senior bowl as part of the recovery team for the athletes. At the end of 2020, I created my business Performance Massage & Recovery. I want to help educate the importance of taking care of your body and recovery. From anyone who is active to amateur & professional athletes! As of August of 2021, I become an instructor for SportStretch®. I love helping educate other LMTs and broadening their skill set.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I decided to jump in full-time into my business summer of 2019… Little did I know what was around the corner in 2020. There have been ups and downs, but I think that happens with every small business owner. I know I have more to offer, and look forward to helping the Orlando community realize the importance of massage and recovery!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Performance Massage and Recovery?
I provide therapeutic and sports massage, SportStretch®, IASTM (scraping), and cupping. My clients range from 9-5 office/desk job professionals, boxers, NFL players, marathon runners, triathletes, bodybuilders, and powerlifters, just to name a few. I love to help my clients relax, and with any area, they may be having an issue. I also love to discuss the importance of recovery and taking care of their bodies to help them feel better.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice for other massage therapists is to take as many classes as you can. Do your research on techniques that you are interested in. Never stop learning!
