Today we’d like to introduce you to Andri Ramirez.
Hi Andri, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved from Bronx, NY to Florida about two years ago to start a new life. When I moved, I worked as an agent for a Medicare sales call center and I would always bake for my coworkers ,as I didn’t know many people in the state and wanted to share my creations. Growing up in NY there was such easy access to gourmet treats , and bakeries of all kinds. The plan was never to start a business I just wanted to bake and give back to those around me. Many in the office loved my treats, and suggested I make a menu, so I did and my supervisor placed an order for some cookies for a coworkers birthday. After that success I had a few coworkers who also placed orders. Do to my high stress job, i decided to put a pause on the business as I was working 10-12 hours during our busy season, but I would still occasionally bake for my coworkers.
Around the beginning of December 2023 , I ended up
losing my job, months later I ended up losing my grandmother in February 2024, and losing my place in March 2024.My biggest wish was to bake for my grandmother, but I never got to meet her, as she passed away in the Dominican Republic(her country), and i was never able to visit her. All I had left was my faith and the gifts I was given, one of which was baking. While experiencing pain and loss, I was showered with endless ideas and recipes, and I decided it’s time to take this seriously, and expand the horizons of my business. While staying at a friend’s house, I began making bento cakes and sharing them with neighbors, and would always receive great reviews🥰 I realized I had so many people who believed in my goal before I did, but my biggest motivation was this is bigger than me. It was not just about having a business but the heart behind it, I wanted my community and costumers to have gourmet treats that are unique and one of a kind, that cannot be found at your local bakery. I enjoy giving others that experience 😇 The things I went through made me stronger and prepared me for this, and what makes this purposeful is that it’s not about me, its to serve the community, but also be an example of resilience for those who see my story, and fighting for what you love, no matter how long it takes🙏 I was able to get back on my feet and I am now ready to fully emerge myself into my dream and I am so thankful for this opportunity 😇
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been, mostly it has been knowing how to stay consistent and appreciating the small wins, I’ve had many family members of friends place orders and tell others about me but learning that growth takes time is something I am still learning and okay with. I want a product that stands the test of time not just something viral.
I also had to work from a friend’s place when I started so I was very limited and I had to prove myself in that situation by working twice as hard to fulfill orders.
Also balancing a full time job and baking is not easy, but I am willing to do the sacrifice for what I love doing🙏 If you really believe in your dream you will do everything in your power to achieve it
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SupaSweet?
I am a small home based business who is looking to expand into a cafe in the next few years. I specialize in Hokkaido cupcakes (moist souffle cupcakes filled with cream), Bento(lunchbox)cakes of various flavors, including the popular Hawaiian Guava flavor, and many other unique pastries. What sets me apart is I go beyond making a basic vanilla cake, or something you will find at a commercial bakery, I also believe in the quality of my pastries. I am most proud of starting at a time in which I felt like giving up , this kept me going, and that’s why I know that those who experience SupaSweet will know what I’m about, and take inspiration. I am a girl from the Bronx, who grew up in a poor immigrant household, who did not let her obstacles and mistakes stop her from dreaming and expressing her creativity. I would like readers to know that they can place their orders by contacting me on Instagram and they can also see my creations there , and can also communicate with me there to place their orders for pickup😇
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love watching kdramas and Jdramas😊
