Meet Anesha & Toshana Gordon of T.A.M.E. Financial

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anesha & Toshana Gordon.

Hi Anesha & Toshana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our names are Toshana and Anesha Gordon. We are co-owners of T.A.M.E Financial. Tame Financial is a tax preparation company that delivers everything you wish you had in your past tax professionals.

We are two sisters that grew up in the inner city of North Miami, Florida. We were raised by a single mother who worked 2 jobs. Unfortunately, financial literacy and understanding our taxes was not a conversation that took place in our household. As we grew older we both had separate negative experiences with tax professionals. This had a significant impact on how we viewed the tax industry. So, we decided to educate ourselves first and realized that many of the strategies that can help us financially are embedded within the tax laws.

This is when T.A.M.E Financial was created. TAME stands Toshana & Anesha’s Minority Education. We wanted to create a tax preparation company that truly made an impact on the people we served, backed by knowledge and resources, that are transferred to our clients through services.

Our mission is to allow wealthy concepts to be accessible to mainstream America, with a focus on educating minorities. Our vision is to provide an economic blueprint that can be used for generations to come. It is very important that our impact does not stop at our clients, but it extends to their loved ones.

Breaking down taxes to our clients in an easy-to-understand format is key to their generational success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been challenges and obstacles that we have encountered while starting our business, but they all have been great lessons to learn and grow from.

When we first started, we made an executive decision to have one of our partners (Anesha), move to Philadelphia from Florida, to work as a contractor with another tax company. This opportunity was used to set the foundation for our education as it pertains to the process and operating procedures associated with running a tax business.

During this experience, diverse groups of people, cultures, and situations were encountered. We documented the process and made notes of what we would like to implement or improve while running our own tax company. After that experience we understood the importance of marketing, building relationships, having a strong social media presence, and implementing automation to run the business smoothly.

We have made it a priority to consistently show up for our business as we strive to run an ethical, professional, and high-quality service business that is in alignment with our mission and vision.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our business is structured based on four core values that represent what we believe. Our number 1 core value is Transparency. Being Transparent with our process, procedure, and pricing, is very important to us as we want to ensure that our clients have the ability to make an informed decisions.

Confidentiality is our 2nd core value. We value the importance of protecting both the physical and electronic documentation provided by our clients. That is why we use a secured and encrypted portal to send and receive personal information for all clients. Our 3rd core value is Beneficence. It is our standard to provide high-quality service that is done in a manner that is ethical, professional, and full of integrity.

We do in-depth research on credits and deductions, stay up to date with tax laws, and take pride in going above and beyond for all clients. Our 4th and last core value is Enrichment. We value education but we also value the needs of our clients. It is our goal to fill in the informational gap to help set clients up for success in more ways than just taxes.

We are known for our slogan “We Educate To Elevate” as this is a mantra used to promote financial literacy within the community. The biggest thing that sets our company apart from others is the constant education and resources provided to our clients to help aid in forward-thinking.

We are most proud of the progress that we have made thus far and the impact that we have yet to make. We want readers to know that T.A.M.E. Financial is here to instill knowledge, accountability, and resources to help people make informed decisions associated with what’s in their best interest.
