Today we’d like to introduce you to Anina Monteforte
Hi Anina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Anina Monteforte, I am a proud Latina, Sagittarius, and world traveler. Over the past nine years, I’ve traveled to 55+ countries. I started blogging about my experience on @TheWorldWithinHer and did more than just collect stamps on my passport. I decided to combine my love for sustainability and travel, I enrolled to get my Masters program at NYU studying Sustainable Development. In 2019, I decided to create ‘The World Within Us Travels’ to share that vision.
The World Within Us Travels is not your everyday travel company. We just plan trips; we curate adventures that create an impact. From safaris in Tanzania gifting solar lights, to Taj Mahal visits led by women in India, every trip is intentionally designed. We’re a sustainable woman-led travel company that curates customized family trips, cultural retreats, and group trips. All of our trips feature a female guide to support women in tourism, and sustainable hotel choices where we can!
We have sent hundreds of travelers to destinations like Tanzania, Egypt, Brazil, Italy, Guatemala, Vietnam, Bali, India, Nepal, Colombia, Japan, Croatia, and more. Everything focused on stimulating the local economy and creating culturally immersive and supporting indigenous-led tours and workshops. These trips have shown travelers a more intentional and purpose-driven way to travel.

For me, travel isn’t just about seeing the world—it’s about discovering yourself in it. I’m also a big advocate for wellness, healing, and self-discovery and I’ve sent hundreds of people to solo travel and exploring new destinations in a way that safely pushes them out of their comfort zones, and create life-changing moments.
So whether you’re looking to meet other amazing women on our 2025 retreats, have a special mother-daughter trip, a honeymoon, or solo explore– that’s the magic of The World Within Us; we’re here to make it happen!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was DEFINITELY not always a smooth road. I am the first entrepreneur in my family and in my friend circle so I had very little knowledge on what it would actually take to build and run a business. In the beginning I think it was a mix of my blind delusion and optimism that carried me through because I believed so deeply in the vision– that I could make the world a little better and help others see the world.
Along the way I learned more than I ever imagined about wearing all the hats it takes to run a successful business. From finance to marketing to building partnerships, every day brought new challenges. As things were getting started in our first year, the global pandemic hit.
You of-course cannot plan for COVID-19, and it turn the tourism industry upside down. Navigating this period was one of the most difficult, with each country as they reopened having their own guidelines that I need to make sure our travelers were ready and prepared for. However, I knew if we can make it through that storm, we could get through anything.
More importantly, I found ways to support our local partners and guides who were deeply affected by the lack of tourism. Rebuilding tourism in a post-pandemic world was both a challenge and a privilege- working with women, indigenous people, and locals for every step felt even more intention and impactful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I have answered this in the first question <3 [you can pull and reword from there]
I can add a little more…….
What sets us The World Within Us Travels apart is that we’re proudly Latina-Owned, fully woman-led, and built on intentionality. Our approach to travel isn’t just about visiting new places; it’s about creating experiences that connect people with the culture, community, and themselves.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our group trips for travelers in their 20s and 30s– individuals who have the courage to get up and go, exploring the world with curiosity and open hearts. One of my absolute favorites being Tanzania– a country in Eastern Africa that has changed my life many times over; from the serene wildlife to the kindness of the locals. It’s the kind of trip that stays with you forever.
We also proudly offer payment plans to make travel affordable and accessible to everyone.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
So many things; wellness, self-care, travel, family, friends, community.
However, the common thread for everything is: Intention.
Everything I do is with intention– whether it’s decisions in my business, a meaningful conversation with a friend, moments I spend with my family, and self-care time for myself. It’s the common thread and roadmap in my life.
